Want to get a prescription but worried it’ll negatively impact our ability to adopt children. Anyone got experience in this area?

All you can do is be open and honest about it; hiding it would look unfavourable.
In theory, it should have no impact and if it did I would suggest you have a discrimination case but seek a solicitor in that case.
More extreme drugs are prescribed for various things anyway, so presuming medicine is stored out of reach it shouldn't be an issue. You aren't smoking, it shouldn't be that unusual to the local authority (CBMPs specifically may be a first). You may get some stigma from individuals but see above. First step would be to raise a complaint if you felt unfairly treated - it's prescribed.
You may get some super hot-headed comments if this post is picked up by the *right* people. Take their comments with a pinch of salt. From previously working in local authorities generally there's a shortage of potential adoption candidates and are *desperate* for suitable parents. Best approach is just to speak to people and be reasonable.
Sometimes a little education can go a long way.
I would suggest contacting your local authority for advice they probably have a section on their website; about it or may be part of a larger org delivering services across multiple areas. They would be great to ask for advice, or alternatively other local adoption/fostering/CAB type orgs would be able to advise too.

As it is a medicine I doubt they could officially turn you down as a result of it.
However! The stigma around cannabis is real and there could be some unspoken bias that plays into their decision on whether to house a child in your care.
I know from experience that they are very strict with their rules so I would advise to get some very good legal advice and/or advice direct from the adoption agency to enquire if something like that could have implications to an adoption process.
If you do go down that route I hope it all goes well for you.
