Help please - new to MC and would like advice on oils

I'm brand new. As in not a user of cannabis at all either via prescription or illegally. I really want to try it to see if it helps with my pain as my doctor wants to put me on strong opioids and I would rather avoid that if possible, but don't feel comfortable smoking or vaping. I was looking for edibles but having read through this sub and the FAQ's I believe edibles aren't a thing in the UK and what I would actually need is oil to administer orally via a dropper.

My queries are:

Do you have to hold the oil under your tongue for a long time or can you just swallow it? Does it matter?

Is there a standard oil or are there different types like flavours / strains?

What does the oil taste like?

If anyone gets oil and can recommend a provider that would also be really helpful.

Apologies if these seem like daft questions, and thanks in advance!

I have just been prescribed T20 C10 to help with sleep, but after a really bad night anxiety panic attack, I did bit of research and found out it’s made sativa dominant strains, so wasn’t happy, it’s not cheap so because I didn’t want to waste it I now use it in my morning porridge, although my tolerance is quite high I take half a syringe 0.5ml and it’s still not strong enough to hold me, so definitely be changing next review.
I suggest you start low though my friend, but I also know people who no matter how much oil/edibles they take it just doesn’t work for them then others only need a tiny drop, we are all different so good luck on your journey ❤️🤝💚💨💨💨

Have you been prescribed anything for your pain condition by your doctor previously or currently you may or may not know this already but you have to have tried two traditional treatments or medications for your condition first.

My friend mixes her oil with a spoonful of yoghurt and she says that made the experience better you wouldn’t be breaking the rules. If you use the oil to make edibles you would be breaking the rules but adding a dose to food wouldn’t be a problem I think the reason we can’t make edibles is because dosage wouldn’t be very accurate in theory

I use adven T20/C10. I though that I had found my perfect dose of 0.17ml but I've had covid for the last week & the affects of the oil have become unpredictable & I've been getting quite high from it even though I've dropped my dose down to 0.10ml
I hold it under my tongue for as long as possible, at least 5 mins sometimes longer but I've never been told at what point the benefits of continuing to hold it are gone 🤷🏻‍♀️
I like the taste of it (when my taste buds are working). It tastes like cannabis, no added flavours. Also your breath will smell like cannabis for a little bit after you take it as well.

I’ve now moved to oils exclusively. I’ve found the slower climb with them completely prevents the anxiety I can get with vaping due to the fast onset of the full effects. I can control my dosage perfectly with oils and totally predict the results.

I’m very low tolerance so got the Adven 20 THC and find about 0.1ml is perfect. It’s a hell of a lot cheaper than flower for me and tastes great.

Flower was expensive, hit and miss on quality, and I was really feeling it on my chest.

I’d 100% vouch for oils

i use the adven t20 (2%).

i hold it under my toungue as long as practical. about 10 seconds, lol.

very few varieties.

biggest problem it can take 90 minutes to have an effect and can be very changeable. this means it can be a bit of a lottery so i dont take as much as i 'should', and when it finally kicks in, i can supplement it with flower.

its very discrete.

sapphire.

I've got the Adven 20:1 Indica that works well for me. It's hard to find info on the strains used but they either list it as Indica or Sativa Hybrid and have different levels of THC/CBD. As a 1st time user I would go for a lower THC one to start with and build up.

As for using it I get a spoonful of peanut butter, then make a well in it for the oil and eat it all in one mouthful, you don't really taste the oil much and always starts to work within an hour.
