Had the official stance on driving when medicated changed?

Just had my 3 month review and was told “you must not drive when medicated” “you cannot drive once you’ve had your medication”. I could swear sapphire gave me a leaflet specifically on driving and medicating when I first became a patient and that was contrary to the advice I’ve just been given. So has the stance now changed?

No, nothing has changed. You can drive as long as you are not impaired. Perhaps poor wording on their part.

Nothing has changed as it’s not a stance, it’s law. Medical cannabis comes under the same rules that apply to any substance that may impair your ability to drive. You must not drive if you feel impaired.

The difference is that THC stays detectable in your system for a very long time. If I vape before bed and drive in the morning I will still test positive for THC but I’m definitely not impaired. You have a medical defence for having THC in your system if your cannabis is prescribed.

Who's official stance? The Home Office doesn't address it, the DVLA is silent and the police are almost entirely ignorant of the law and aren't equipped to differentiate between trace results or impairment level results at the road side.

My clinic hasn't explicitly guided me in this area, so the only advice I've ever had is the stuff written on the tub. That leaves the burden of judgement on me and how I feel. I generally feel too impaired in the first 30mins to 45mins. Out of an abundance of caution I wait at least 2hrs but preferably 4hrs.

Someone at sapphire doesn't know what they're talking about, unless there has been a change today

What does it say on the prescription you've received from the pharmacy? That is the guidance you must follow - they may modify their prescribing as new evidence comes to light and a new study on MC and impairment was released last week.

You should email them for confirmation of their advice and reasoning. Best and only way to get it cleared up, really.

Your doctor knew you were going to pay his wages and buy your products regardless, so took the cowardly approach which guaranteed no repercussions for him.

I had my first consultation 6 days ago with Integro and was told they recommend waiting 1.5 hours before driving, or if you know you're not impaired.

I haven't tried mc yet as still doing the process.. But if it has the same effect as normal weed, why would u even consider driving. Seems a strange question. I'm only commenting as people who I know use mc say the effects are virtually the same.
