NPCC to meet with clinics - 'fresh guidance will be issued to forces.'

Found a recent [FOI](https://www.npcc.police.uk/SysSiteAssets/media/downloads/publications/disclosure-logs/national-crime-coordination-committee/2023/300-2023-npcc-response-letter---cannabis.pdf) from the National Police Chief Council that says new guidance will be issued, along with clarification that we only need our prescription, original packaging and photo ID to prove legality. Also it disses cancard:

NPCC Response:

Q. If a person is approached in the street by an officer who suspects they are in possession of cannabis, what would be expected of that person in order to prove that the cannabis is in legal possession?

A. Outside of the Act, the NPCC portfolio for drugs has kindly provided the following: β€œThe person concerned would need to demonstrate proof of a prescription, a digital or hard copy with their details and corresponding photographic ID together with the medicinal cannabis within its original legitimate packaging.”

Cancard provides no authority to possess cannabis. There are already sufficient means for an individual who is lawfully in possession of a cannabis-based product for medicinal use (CBPM), to demonstrate legitimate medical use.

2. There are further meetings planned between the NPCC Drugs Portfolio and legitimate clinics who lawfully prescribe and supply legitimate cannabis products in order to further more recent guidance to policing; therefore I can confirm that fresh guidance will be issued to forces.

Hope it works better than their last guidance which has been ignored by most PC's. Issuing guidance, and having it comprehended and implemented are two wholly different things!

Its really not a big deal once you get your system setup.

My approach to public vaping: I leave a couple of popcorns in the bottom of the latest tub for show. The main scrip i keep in a seperate glass jar at home. My actual medicine to be used out and about i have pre-dosed in capsules in a separate thing (the S&B caps and screw cap caddies), that Officer doesn't need to see for me to demonstrate legality.

I find it baffling why they want it in the original packaging. That means, if I take this literally, I have to carry a tub or 2 around with me, and grind my flower as and when I need it, instead of preparing dosing capsules beforehand. I don't see the value having the packaging with me, it still doesn't prove that what is inside it is what was originally in there.

I'm wondering if we can get together a letter and drop a copy to every force in uk, telling them ignorance of the law is no excuse and that now They know We are legal, We expect better, drop a copy in every month and film it until the message is received! We have rights and will be free...

A step in the right direction which sadly doesn't seem to have reduced the bitching and whining.

That’s brilliant news. Thank you for sharing this, it’s very helpful. I am particularly interested in what they’ve said regarding Cancard. I will be adding that guidance sheet to my phone to show the the Police in the (possible) event they claim not to be aware.πŸ’œπŸŒ±

Refers to letter from specialist, not everyone has a letter. No mention of fp10? Still insisting it wont be widespread .

No advice on patient rights.

Not clear enough re amounts permitted or path for officers to follow.

I really hope we can sort this.

As long as cannabis is criminalized in this country patients will be targets and suffer with anxiety, the thing a good amount of patients actually medicate to alleviate
