Has anyone had any experience as I’m aware they do make exceptions, but I think it may be for children who are on Epidyolex?

It's a federal crime to take cannabis based products to the borders of the US.
The only way you have ANY chance of an exception would be to speak to the US Embassy before you travel and see if they will give you a license to import your controlled medications.
For cannabis oil I would be very surprised if they gave you the OK, especially if there are any non-cannabis based alternatives available for your condition that they consider to be acceptable treatments.
Whatever you do though, definitely do not try to just bring it and hope for an exception at the border. That has the possibility for things to go very badly wrong for you. Best case scenario you get sent back on the next flight and banned from returning. Worst case you spend the next X years of your life living in a US Federal prison.

FDA approved cannabinoid based medicines are allowed with the standard medical letters based on an enquiry I made with customs and border protection. Epidyolex is FDA approved, as is dronabinol and cesamet (nabilone). Would still recommend contacting the US embassy for confirmation nothing has changed though.
