Healthy snacks for the munchies?

How do you guys manage to not gain 4 stone on medical cannabis? New patient here. Whenever I vape my modified gas in my nightly I feel like I could rare the cupboards down and eat every bag of crisps in the house.

I think because of the quality of MC compared to BM the munchies are 10x stronger

I know the feeling however these days I have no potato based crisps or chocolate in my place due to my Crohn's so typically I eat a lot of fruit.

On an evening I'll have watermelon, bananas and grapes and like last night when that wasn't sufficient and I could do with crisps I'll replace that with popcorn which is much healthier and less fattening or even corn based crisps, I do enjoy a bag of monster munch.

Then on other evenings I'll have dried fruit like mango, raisins and berries or I'll mix that dried fruit into a bowl of fruit and fibre, if i need something sweeter then a blueberry muffin and custard is a treat and I also enjoy teriyaki flavoured beef jerky and healthyish sandwiches if I want something more savoury.

Drink a pint of water, then reassess.

Tell yourself you'll be fine without if it's 'extra food

Then drink some more water, reassess.

At this point you will have hopefully forgotten what you're meant to be doing, more time has passed, little to no food eaten. Then return to the first step and repeat.

It does decrease with time but different strains can make worse. 25 years for me and actually struggle to eat without it first now.

Have a good session right before meal so you fill up on that. Frozen grapes are a good reasonably healthy munchy. Yoghurt good too. Make your own smoothies and milkshakes (fruit and milk not ice cream). But sometimes nothing but crisps or cake will satisfy and at those times treat yourself. Or just vape on through until your too wasted to be bothered to eat 😆

It does wear off in the meantime I recommend fruit, nuts and occasional cake. If it’s not in the house you can’t eat it - also works well. I found setting an eating schedule so I stop eating after my meal at night and so not snack- discipline and not having in house after this now works wonders and I rarely get days where I need to have that cake and have to make it.

Portion control. Only buy single serve sizes.

>!Any size is single serve if you’re brave/hungry/medicated enough!<

Literally a personal battle, I'm an eater. I've signed up for a marathon to keep me as under control as possible 😂

Brush my teeth or drink tea instead otherwise I can’t physically control how much i eat

Prepare something before you medicate and then when cravings call, you already have something healthy prepared and ready to go

Or just dinner

If I cut out sugar and caffeine and junk food I have noticed that I don’t get the munches . But as soon as I start having caffeine and sugar again I get the munches really badly.

Snickers ice cream bars are dangerous! They shouldn’t be allowed to come in a 4 pack! 🙈

I've had to be really strict and not adding anymore ice cream on the Tesco shopping list. Have put a stone or so already. 😕

Roast some sunflower seeds in the oven, they are tasty. Also i like sliced watermelon that’s been chilled in the fridge and drizzle in honey.

Instead of a cereal bar, I have switched to seeds - a mix of sunflower and pumpkin seeds, some cinnamon, some with fruit or ginger and dark chocolate coated. I can fill a snack pot, and it’s actually way healthier. I like munchyseeds.co.uk or nutspick.co.uk

Water, fruit, veggies. If you don't want to eat try brushing your teeth when you get the munchies, it puts you off.

Either ignore it, because large quantities of sugar make me feel ill, or fruit. Especially grapes, raspberries, strawberries, and tangerine type citrus stuff. The acid sweetness cuts through the dry mouth, and is both refreshing and satisfying.

keto chocolate bombs!!!!

crunchie peanut butter - you need to gauge the largest spoonful you can eat without choking - then it takes ages to eat.

Fruits, snacky veg like celery and carrot sticks, frozen grapes are a game changer, nuts, dried fruit. I drink nothing but water so sugars not an issue but if you like something with flavour then the da-sh sparkling waters are great.

All comes down to self discipline to stop the rubbish foods really but theres some options

Keep going - it wears off and helps with discipline once you’re using it often enough.

Personally, grilled chicken salads are great. If you’re a little lazy, those puff rice cakes with a bit of peanut butter or Nutella usually hits the spot with me. Not sure what’s the total caloric or macros intake in a single seating, but it’s sure better than tubs of candy and chocolate.
