This is going to sound

This is going to sound absolutely bonkers.

I have documented my journey since my return to cannabis 11 weeks ago.

I thought I found my sweet spot. French cookies and Sourdoe. Almost pain free after a gramm a day. I know that's the goal but I don't particularly like the head high. Especially when I'm working.

I woke up today and had some cbd flower. Harlequin from HH.. I smoked a j of it. No tabacco. It holds the pain back but not as much as the mc. But I'm not high. You know what. It sounds mad after what I have spent. But I personally prefer it. I'm going to get down votes galore now but it's about what's right for myself.

I know it's not about the money but it's £120 a month for my usage 30g. With MC it's almost treble that with consultations etc.

Is smoking cbd legal?... Maybe I should go down this path.

I get mc is great for pain but I must admit I have been stoned managing a group of 16 aged between 17 and 28..i feel I have been irresponsible and I'm beating myself up. I know I'm just a number. But these kids really try and my team is the best performing by miles. Maybe because they have a manager who us stoned everyday. Lol.

Nobody really noticed as I hid it well.. I have just chatted to my Mrs aswell and she said I much prefer you on the cbd. She said when I vape it's like when I have had 6 pints. Basically stoned from 6am daily. I suppose it's similar to getting pissed before work. My heads now back in bits. Questioning which path to take.. Why is everything so hard. All I want is a pain free life. It's not a lot to ask for.

You all have a fantastic weekend and thank you for reading.

This isn't the case for anybody on MC.

I understand your concerns, but please let me reasure you that medicating with cannabis is nothing like getting 'pissed'.... Cannabis & alcohol have nothing in common.

Cannabis can be very overpowering medication, especially for those who have a low tolerance. It's been a very long time since I felt this way as I have use cannabis daily for over 20 years, but thinking back to my early days I can remember the feeling of being 'too stoned'.... & TBH I probably would not feel comfortable carrying out day to day tasks if I my meds were overpowering in that sense.

In my opinion, with low tolerance comes more impacting side effects, & I very much consider that overpowering feeling of 'too stoned' that your describing as a generalised side effect... Broken down into more specific side effects like paranoia, anxiety, increased appetite, drowsiness, giggles... etc... side effect that I can remember suffering from when my tolerance was low, but none of which bother me now as my tolerance is consistently high....

Some people like to feel 'stoned' as I sure I did when I was younger.... but for a medicating purpose I believe having a high tolerance to THC (especially), is very important (vital?) as it eliminates the majority of side effects and allows the user to feel the true benefits of the medication & live a life without any (very few) impairment from meds.

Of course, stronger cannabis will leave people with low tolerance at greater risk. When I had low tolerance I was smoking poor quality hash with very low THC content and I can still remember how pronounced & uncomfortable the side effects were when I felt 'too stoned'.... So when I hear people with low tolerance medicating with flowers like Sourdough, it does make me cringe a little as the risks of adverse side effects are clearly very high imo... Im surprised the doctors are not more inclined to think this way and base the initial THC content on the expected tolerance of each patient, starting low THC & increasing steadily.... altering & monitoring doses accordingly with the change in flower / THC content.

Going off what you have said, I think CBD (or balanced) flower during the day & a weaker THC flower for evening / nights.... which will help to start increasing your tolerance gradually & reduce the side effects you are finding uncomfortable.

In time, eventually, you may find that flowers like Sourdough are very effective & the high THC offers greater benefits, and few side effects. For now I would recommend something like tripoli for your THC flower.

Anyone else feel this way?

Final point.... Im generally baffled by people taking tolerance breaks as I feel it would just amplify unwanted side effects for me. Surely it would be the same if other prescribed medicines intended for consistent & regular use were interrupted by tolerance breaks???

Like any medicine, you need to balance the benefits with the side effects. And, what i think often gets overlooked is that being high is a side effect, albeit one that many MC users seek out and value.

I've asked this before of this community:

If you could get the same medicinal benefits from a THC tablet that was engineered to have no high at all, would you swap it? I think many here would keep to their high inducing THC.

Sorry to hear you’re torn in this way. My two pence worth is, if you like the CBD on its own, and it works best for you then don’t change that. There’s a massive stigma around cannabis. Even medical cannabis but it’s nothing like “getting pissed before work”. I medicate all day for two thirds of every month, with a 10 day t-break. My tolerance is average I would say, and when I medicate I use a very small amount, frequently.

That said, I’m a MH patient and not a pain patient. Not sure if that makes a difference.

Basically, little and often is my practice 😊

I literally had an occupational health review ordered by my employer that was carried out by a doctor last Tuesday, told them all about my MC prescription and she said she didn't feel it was relevant, that she's simply going to refer to me starting a new pain medication in November.

I work in healthcare and make some very difficult decisions that impact patient care, if I felt mentally impaired I'd not use the MC before or during work, but honestly, the combination of Tramadol, Fentanyl, Oramorph, Clonazepam and Pregabalin I've been on made me feel more impaired. I've successfully dropped the Tramadol down to 1/4 in a month, and the aim is to get off, or significantly cut down the rest.

I went from unemployed for 3 years.. addicted to benzos an opiates to full time employed and loving life thanks to medical cannabis!

I don't see it akin to drinking tbh but I respect that you are finding out what works best for you!

I would say that afaik cbd flower is illegal but I don't really understand how so many places sell it openly if that's the case ?

By the legal definition no flower is legal that contains any thc unless prescribed. Whilst the law may not be policed it can and has been.

Cbd flower isnt legal unless prescribed and then can't be smoked. Maybe ask for a cbd strain and vape it?

Have you tried any lower THC flowers for the morning? I'm not a fan of getting too heavily medicated before work either, but I've found a balanced flower like EMB-1 works quite well for taking away some of the pain while also leaving me clear-headed enough to work comfortably

Hold fast to what works for you, if that’s CBD then that’s what works for you. It’s best to maintain curiosity as you explore what’s possible for you in pain management and dispense with others judgement. One of the worst things we can fall into is that of second guessing oneself. No one else can do you better than you and if that means you using CBD and that enables you rather than the opposite, I’d say you’ve more than got your shit together and found what works. That’s all you need to know. Anyone else’s opinion is irrelevant. We’re here managing various conditions and situations which are specific to us as individuals so we’re all going to have different needs. You obviously care and take into account others and what they require from you which is commendable. Checking how the ecology of your life is impacted by any goal is important but do make sure you’re serving your needs appropriately though, which in your case sounds like keeping your pain response under control. That’s the priority which must first be addressed that meets your needs. It’s all about finding that balance, isn’t it? Hold fast, OP, to what works for you because being free of pain really isn’t a lot to ask for but sometimes we find ourselves doubting ourselves, managing other people’s responses to our personal challenges, all of which can defect from that purpose. You’ll find that path, that balance, just hold fast to what works for you. I wish you all the best.

Anyone who downvotes you for finding what works for you, is just a prick. On the CBD flower and the law it's a grey area, officially if it's under 2% THC it should be legal, however how does a policeman know that if he finds you with it?. If you're stopped you're more than likely at best having it seized, again the police can't tell if it's CBD flower or not. If CBD is working for you, look into CBD vapes, then you shouldn't have any issues with the old bill.

Cbd flower unless prescribed is still illegal if I recall correctly. If a police officer where to stop you with it etc it is going to look like normal cannabis to them and likely the same outcome of confiscation arrest and potentially a possession charge if they don’t send it off to be tested at least with a prescription this wouldn’t happen or shouldn’t happen

I can’t unfortunately receive MC (although I’m 99% positive I’m eligible) due to my job (mobile plant operator) so I smoke CBD flower to take the edge off my pain and make it more manageable. But.. CBD in its flower form is still a class B controlled substance in the UK. I haven’t a clue why though but unfortunately it is, although it’s grown in this country and readily available online.

It doesn't sound bonkers. At all.

As a few others have said you have to find what works for you, I've seen quite a few patients in here post low thc/high cbd meds and you can legally buy disposable cbd only vapes on the high street. Pun intended.

So getting high or using thc isn't mandatory.

But based on what it sounds like you do I reckon keeping legal needs to be a priority.

Hope you find what you need and works for your circumstances 🤘🏼

Whatever works for you. I’d suggest limiting your dosage and which strains for when. In my experience, 0.1g of French cookies is a good starting point for a daytime strain, but I would not have sourdough until evening as that makes me sleepy.

Why would you get downvotes? Everyone has a different experience and if you've found something that works better than that's cool 😎

I use 85% CBD and 15% THC, but most the time in Grind together

Have you tried vaping the cbd and mixing a small amount of the MC with it? Should work well for you

I've asked for a lower THC daytime strain because I don't like to feel 'high' at work, the doctor advised me against it and said it would probably be useless for pain.

Then that makes me bonkers as well. I don't enjoy being 'high' during the day, and I think it says a lot about your character that you are concerned about it affecting your work. I try to limit my vaping to evenings, when I'm starting to wind down, but if I do take it through the day I tend to microdose at a lower temperature. This takes the edge off of my symptoms without making me feel too impaired. This works for me, and you need to do what works for you, as does everyone on their MC journey.

Fuck the downvoters!

Good for you bro. I’ve got the exact same CBD strain from the same place and it’s nice. Personally CBD doesn’t seem to do much for my pain alone but I find it great for easing my mind.
