Chronic pain stories

Hey I've got a question for any MC patients with chronic pain. I've got a close friend that's considering becoming an MC patient. I'm an MC patient but for mental health, I've told him how good it's been for me. I was hoping some of you may want to share your stories on this so I can show him some of the positive stories for patients with chronic pain

Pain prescription for me. Inflammatory Arthritis, fibromyalgia and GI issues for 20 years. I've been able to come off opiates after 20 years. I had become intolerant anyway after so long, they never helped anyway, just made me ill. I lost count the number of times I had to self detox off that crap, throwing up in the toilet, the sweats, the endless rebound headaches... It's not nice.

I tell everyone MC is the way now. I like the oils for convenience when I can't vape, but flower provides far more instantaneous relief, and I have found is more predictable. I have a selection of 5 I can choose from to suit my needs.

My pain is now managed and it came with some rather pleasant side effects, none of which will surprise those who know the benefits of MC, but my GP, Rheumatology and Gastroenterology teams refuse to engage in a sensible discussion about it despite measurable improvements.

Since stopping opiates, all my IBD issues have now resolved themselves in less time than it takes to get an NHS referral for a scan. I am in no doubt this down to MC, either by controlling my pain and inflammatory responses, or allowing me to stop taking poison that was making me worse. Or both.

A colonoscopy prior to beginning treatment showed high levels of disease activity and a stricture so tight they could not perfore the procedure or get biopsies. A follow up colonoscopy 6 months later showed no signs of disease or strictures. To think they were proposing to resection my bowel and give me a permanent colostomy.... Because of the shit they put me on!

Another Added benefit is I have reduced benzos by 2/3 per day and stopped taking 50mg amytriptaline every night. My anxiety is practically gone and I have a much better quality of life. Not sure if it's the cannabis or the stopping opiates, but I have now dropped over 2 stone and am nearly back to a normal BMI. Last time that happened, everyone was freaking out about the millennium bug 🤷🏼

I'd say go for it, if they are in pain then they have nothing to lose.

The only negative for me, I am now mostly pain free but not disease free. This means I tend to overdo things far more now as I can take the pain, but the fatigue is worse because of this.

It’s been a revelation as a substitute for traditional opioids for me.

And a great alternative for many other vices.

I have Chronic Pain, mainly in my back and hands. Flower sorts me right out. I tried the oil and it didn’t really do it for me but I’m on a sativa during the day and an indica to help me sleep. Tried a whole range of traditional painkillers before and nothing touched the sides bar morphine. It’s not a miracle cure but it’s helped me to live my life. Feel free to message me if your friend needs any advice.

I have chronic neuropathic pain in my limbs, caused by nerve damage. I take opioids and ketamine, which certainly do help, but life is still hard and I was never close to pain free - before MC.

I still work, but find cannabis during the day impairs me too much to do my job, especially since I also have CFS and struggle with focus, concentration and productivity already.

But even only using cannabis (both oil and flower) in the evening has had a huge positive benefit - I know that every evening I can be close to pain free (for the first time in years!), and also that I'm going to get to sleep easily and stay asleep without constantly waking with pain and discomfort.

I'd say MC has taken me from "existing" to "living".

Stopping opiates has been the best thing for me. I find joy in the little things again. Being able to manage my pain without dulling my outlook on everything means I can be a better dad and husband. Currently abroad and in more pain than usual (different beds wreck me) but I’m able to medicate and play with my son.

I’m only a few weeks into my MC journey.

I have ankylosing spondylitis with IBD and enthesitis, migraines, depression anxiety.

The joint pain and stiffness is better. Much better. I’m coming off codeine completely. Down to one dose a day from 4 doses plus max doses of paracetamol and ibuprofen. I’ve managed to stop those completely.

It’s not a magic wand. As someone else here said about still having a disease so over doing it. That’s spot on.

However it is nice to be in a position to over do it!
Not been there in a long time.

My anxiety has vanished completely and my blood pressure is normal for the first time in year having been previously quite high.

I do struggle with day time. I can’t really use MC during the day. I’m self employed so it’s not about an employer but about needing very sharp focus.
I find tge MC at present affects me too much.

What I take during the evening and before bed does keep me going.

Did anyone else find that they had an adjustment period at first where it took time to get used to MC? As in dosages and how many puffs on the vape and so on.
I’m new to all cannabis hence asking.

I haven’t tried flower yet. Eagerly waiting for my prescription. I have severe chronic pain. The doctor first tried me on oil to just see how I react to the THC. It was rough the first week as I got used to it but all of a sudden I was sleeping pretty good for the first time in years and years. I’m really hopeful for the flower to help with the pain so i can come off some of my medication. MC is definitely worth pursuing. Even just getting a proper sleep instead of 2hrs has drastically changed my quality of life

Best thing I have ever done, I’m not exaggerating or saying this for any other reason than wanting the best for people in pin. I have cut down my other pain med a huge amount and feel all the better for it. :)
