throwaway for obvious reasons. so i’ve been a patient for a while and have been using as prescribed, and have recently lost someone very close to me, which threw me into a relapse.
im unsure whether i should tell my clinician within the chosen place i’ve been a patient at or whether i should keep it to myself as i know they are likely to assume i would misuse and take me off of it. cannabis has been the only thing keeping me on a straight, sane path for almost 2 decades now. i have never abused or misused the cannabis i have been prescribed so that doesn’t factor into it, but im wondering if it would be beneficial to tell them or not.
please no hate, you’re more than welcome to your views on my situation but any advice or similar experiences welcome. even constructive criticism. just very unsure on what to do here.

I am prescribed for harm reduction for misuse of opiates 😉
Long as you can get past your own conscious then your good.
Surely it’s better you use more cannabis than the alternates….I know it is for me. I can actually function on cannabis for a start!

I think if you tell them they'd be more likely to prescribe you more than they would take it away. If you explain yourself they might double your script and see if that stops you craving whatever you relapsed on which is none of my business. Not a doctor but my experience with other drugs is that if you are really fucking medicated on weed like 2 plus grams of super strong shit you're gunna be too blazed to want to do any other drug

Other comments have covered it, I think. I just wanted to wish you well. You've done great to ask for help like this and I really hope you can get yourself into the healthiest position possible.
Have no idea if this is good advice as I'm not a doctor but, whenever you're craving please consume a big ol' dose of weed first to see if that helps.
All the best 😊

I think it's best to be honest with your doctor. Cannabis is prescribed to help misuse so don't worry too much. At the end of the day as a doctor they just want what's best for you, that job will be easier for them if they know all the information and what you're going through mentally

Speak to your GP/Drug service. These things happen, you will be ok. :)

I have a motto.
Dakyo no nai shinjitsu. Translated it means "Truth without compromise".
I believe the truth shall set you free and there is no shame in addiction except what social stigma occurs. In reality that is a construct and has no objective truth to it beyond hysterical opinion of the masses. There isn't a drug rehab place in the world that would berate you for your addiction or relapses. And they are the expert, not Joe Bloggs in the street who has no vested interest in your life or emotional states.
With that being said, you are here asking for help. Asking for help is tough so well done.
I would tell your clinician because without the truth they are stymied in helping you to the full effect. They won't shame you. And please don't shame yourself. You are a human being and you matter.

I'm prescribed for substance use disorder among other things and understand how you feel.
I would tell my Dr if I relapsed. I've found it easy to be an open book with them which is the complete opposite from any Dr ive ever seen in my 34 years of life. I find my Dr to be unjudgmental and conscious of my needs to keep safe.
Sorry to hear your going through a difficult time. Just remember the drugs aren't worth it
