After 2+ years of treatment with medical cannabis my NHS consultant psychiatrist has diagnosed my bipolar disorder as being in remission :-)
Been off all my psychotropic medication for nearly 3 months. I’ve been a mental health nurse for 25 years and never come across a case of bipolar being in remission.

That's pretty amazing!
I worked in mental health for 20yrs and definitely never heard of any psych Dr or nurse saying someone's bipolar was in remission.
I guess everyone's different. Weed will exacerbate some people's symptoms.
I really hope things continue to improve for you!

That's great to hear your illness is in remission, regardless what the treatment is. I too am a MH nurse and have not heard the term remission used to describe someones bi polar. Can I be nosey and ask what type bi polar are you and what MC you use? (dw if Im being too intrusive and you'd rather not disclose)
It's fantastic that the treatment that worked is a tolerable, low side effect medication that wont take years off your life!

Very interesting. And congratulations on the improvement! I have been looking into the evidence base for the commonly held medical view that cannabis is contraindicated with bipolar spectrum disorders. I found it to be generally pretty weak. Nothing about CBD levels, just a big focus on high THC strains during daytime and evening.
I was recently diagnosed with a bipolar spectrum condition and this caused lots of concern at my clinic and led to not being prescribed for a month or so while some MDT discussions happened. I am pretty relieved to know my mood swings are not my fault but I am pretty convinced that my daytime balanced strain helped regulate my mood and cope with the extremes better than I would have without it.
I am curious to know what strains you are prescribed and the protocol you use.

Remission can be partial or complete apparently. I'm no expert but I think if it's bipolar it would be partial remission as I would be amazed if someone could be 100 percent cured from bipolar with medical cannabis. What's the difference between partial remission and easing of symptoms! because I could say that mc has put my autism into partial remission 🤷♂️ I'm confused.

Please tell us about your medical cannabis treatment.I am just at the beginning of my MC treatment & am hoping it will resolve my periodic episodes of acute anxiety with depression.Otherwise I see myself having to use antidepressants for the rest of my life.I am in an episode now & trying to keep hopeful during this awful experience(my fourth in ten years)
