ENOUGH IS ENOUGH. Please sign and share this petition for us patients to legally grow our own medication.

Would everyone who reads this please sign and share this petition. https://petition.parliament.uk/petitions/623697.
I could ramble on about the state of the private cannabis industry in the U.K. but to put it bluntly it’s that bad my symptoms have gotten worse due to the stress ordering prescription cannabis.
I know this petition has been done before by others and by myself but if we can get this debated in Parliament their is no argument against us growing our own. The fact that lots of us have had bud rot and mould and have had medical reactions to it says it all.
This petition will give us patients the right to grow and for patients that can’t grow, it will give a care person the right to grow for their patients.
All other countries that have legalised cannabis medical also have the right to grow their own.
There is 15,000 plus patients just in this subreddit so let’s get this signed and shared as much as possible.
I know most petitions don’t work but I’ve had enough of making the rich richer and me sicker. I’m actually begging this community to sign and share this. Much love ❤️

The government will only allow people to grow their own cannabis if it is in the government's best interests, and it currently isn't. Very rich and powerful individuals have paid a lot of money for the monopolies that they have now, and there's still lots of money to be made. Allowing people to grow their own would reduce the money they could squeeze.

As for petitions, they only exist to make those signing them feel as though they've accomplished something and their voices are listened to. No cannabis petition I've seen in the past 16 years has had any effect on anything. Sorry.

Complete waste of time.

Write to your MP instead. 10,000 people writing to their MPs demanding action and holding them accountable would be a more constructive use of everyone’s time and efforts.

These petitions exist so that people feel like they’ve “done their bit” and taken part in democracy, but the canned responses from govt are the same copy and paste jobs every single time regardless of how the debate unfolds, which should tell you everything you need to know.

I am genuinely curious who thinks these petitions are going to work and prompt any change to the current system? How many of these have appeared and fallen down by the wayside?

Why are the patient groups that exist and claim to have our best intentions, not organising protests - it is a lot more visible than a signature that will be simply ignored time and time again.

Despite your terrible pun ("to put it bluntly"), I shall sign your petition :)

Hate to be negative but petitions do absolutely nothing mate. It's a waste of time.

Dont feel very comfortable putting my name and postcode down for the government database, when the topic is requesting for patients to grow our medication. Seems like they will know who's door to be knocking on in future...not for me thanks iv got too much to risk!!!

I believe each pharmacy has to pay fees in the region of 1 - 2 million yearly for their import licenses alone. I imagine. the clinics have to pay license fees too. There's no way the government is ever going to sacrifice that revenue and allow patients to grow their own. What would be the point? You go to a Dr. who writes you a prescription then you just grow your own? Why not just grow your own anyway? It's unenforceable and makes little sense from the governments perspective.

I signed it, ofc.

The topic followed by a petition comes about every other week on the forum, I can’t understand why, Why is not a permanent ongoing petition embedded in the forum border With a large banner.

This constant drip and flow platform will never gather enough momentum, we need consistent pressure.

That petition could get a hundred thousand signatures, it isn't going to do shit. If you really care go study public speaking and start preaching in the streets like how people used to spread the word of god, you gotta spread the seed of legalised weed! Stand there and loudly announce how you are vaping canabis! Blow the smoke around and get as much attention as you can and once there's a crowd you start giving your speech convincing people that patients should be able to grow their own.

If you do that, and do a really good job of it, maybe in 10 years time someone might tell you to stop. I dont think you've really thought this through, and why the only way it could happen is FULL LEGALIZATION.

While it's a controlled substance, I.e. only available on prescription you will absolutely NEVER be able to grow your own, that's not how controlled drugs work.

You think just coz a doc prescribes you codeine that the government are going to give you a licence to grow poppies? This is honestly the dumbest and least thought out post I've seen on here.

There are 15,000 in this Reddit group but not all of them are patients and I'm guessing there are only around 1,000 people who actually check up on this page. I'd be very surprised if your petition even reaches 1,000 signatures, not to say its a complete waste of time though. That's why I think it would be better to push for a questionnaire for patients on this subject from the doctor or clinic and then present that to MPs. If a huge percentage of actual patients wanted to grow that would surely be respected and listened too.

these petitions are cunter productive. people sign them and think they have done enough.

it isnt and it does nothing. we all need to do more. we need to write to our mps (does almost nothing), we need to talk to all our friends, we need to write to the local police, to strangers, to everyone and raise awareness, we need to engage with everyone at every opportunity.

the only thing we dont need to do is more pointless petitions.

Too much negativity in a room full of brothers and sisters. Sure. A single petition will do nothing by itself. But that's not the point to these right now. It's to raise a voice. It's to give attention to a cause. An issue. When there's 1 of these every few months and they rarely achieve numbers, it's a non issue to the government. But what happens when there's multiple petitions open at once. Each with tens of thousands of votes. That is when they may begin to make a difference. That is when we will start to see real discussions. The discussions created are what we need. Regardless of wether you want to grow your own or if you just want more change around medical or even recreational. Its our job as early birds to start different discussions and keep other conversations going. Otherwise, how can any of us expect more change to come? We should be working together to achieve things. Don't stand divided already because weve achieved some change. Keep going. People here saying they're not wasting their time. It takes you less then 2 minutes to pop in 3 details and confirm this at minial expense. Its only a waste if you don't continue your support. Shouldnt we be working together guys and gals, not against each other. Idk. Late night insomnia ramblings and personal thoughts on the matter. Thanks for your time if you've read on. :')

I signed, good luck buddie and to anyone else who's able to dedicate more time as well.

As nice as this would be, in my position I'd be happier with dispensaries with cheaper better quality meds

The was a big one before (relating to cannabis).

Theresa May as home sec at the time fobbed it off " cannabis causes harm to individuals and society" In the mean time GWPharma continued to develop cannabis based medicine in the UK under home office licence. All whilst the company Philip May worked for, built a controlling interest in GWPharma and subsequently IPO'd it on the NASDAQ for many billions of dollars...

IMHO the only reason that Medical Cannabis was "legalised" in the uk when sajid javid was home sec. was merely a distraction from Mays previous actions. when the story started gaining some traction.

The situation we find ourselves in is. Pay through the nose get what your given and deal with any associated shit entirely on your own. Well at least thats my experience of the last 2 years.

The limbo and dogma that exists around cannabis in the UK is mind boggling. The medical "profession" aren't helping. Even the most ardent dr's supporting cannabis mostly sit on the fence and act as apologists for the dogma and ignorance of their colleagues.

I signed your petition on principle. But alas we are not dealing with a system or people with principles.

I think the only way to change a law is massive public pressure along with the press. It's going to be a massive uphill battle. If they could just get thier head out of their arses and see that it's basically propaganda and people have been using cannabis for thousands of years. Imagine the tax they could make on it if we had a system like the US or Canada.

Some of the comments on here make me sick. Ffs I’m trying to help everyone here. You not tired of the pathetic situation the private medical cannabis industry is in. I know that petitions mostly fail but as I said if we get enough signatures at least we can have it debated in parliament.
I’ve contacted my MP, spoke with my Dr, spoke with my local police. I’m in contact with Cancard and other organisations to try and get the green light.

Would be good to push for clinic doctors to produce a questionnaire for patients on their views on acquiring a licence to grow and how it would benefit them in their current situation. That way we can get a patient based response that could be presented to MPs and help the movement move forward in the right direction

Iv signed this, but as a community why not put up the mp address you'd like to send letters to. We could get organised to work as a team and bombard one mp at a time with thousands of letters. Many voices one aim.

Signed. I agree that some of these comments, whilst probably realistic, are overly cynical and ignore the fact that change like this rarely comes until the people speak up and demand it. We need to act as one in such an important issue. Everyone in this sub (if the agree) should sign!!!

I still find the hypocrisy absolutely insane on this, someone that would have been the leader of our country if she hadn’t made such a balls up has a husband/partner with the biggest medical cannabis operation in the EU yet does not allow us to. If someone in another country got told this they would laugh and refuse to believe it.

Done 👍 I understand that petitions don't often get actioned upon but unless we start somewhere nothing will ever change. If I have to sign these a thousand times, when it comes to being able to provide ourselves with good quality medicine we can cater to our exact needs, we have some ways to go but we have to start the conversation somehow.

Signed, sealed, delivered. Then read the comments. How negative. You may be right with your petition, political talk trash.. but we may as well try? We will eventually win as these old farts will dye out and these so called monopolies unravel over time. It is inevitable. a Cannabis boom will be the next thing they try to latch on to, as you said if theres money to be made..
