NHS reaction to MC

Unfortunately on Wednesday I thought I was having a heart attack so went straight to the hospital. ECG, blood work, chest X-ray, the lot. I was asked what was Adven Flos was on my prescription list and explained it was MC. Turns out I’m suffering from psychosomatic stress and advised to take 5 days bed rest… the cardiologist then said, by all means, if MC is working, keep at it.

Today, I went to my GP for an appointment that I’ve had booked for sometime to checkup on my SSRI / BETA blockers. the doc came straight out after looking at my notes and asked about MC. He then went on to say the medical community are seeing more and more of the positives of MC. He also said that MC is only going to get bigger and more relied upon because of people like us being the first 20-30,000 proving the benefits.

Both really positive experiences.

Have a great weekend folks πŸ‘ŠπŸ½πŸ‘πŸ½πŸ€˜πŸ½.

I had a universal credit fit for work exam and they asked about any prescriptions I was taking.
I explained about the medical cannabis and why I am on it, they literally just said "do you find it helps" in a curious tone, no judgement, going to take a while but think that the tides are slowly changing

My gp was wondering how he could get some on prescription for himself hahaha!

Had all good experiences bar a pre op with a dinosaur anaesthetist who had a real issue with it and didn't actually believe it was legally prescribed! He was a prick!

My gp has had no problem with me using mc, too, especially as it helps with my anxiety, where everything they've tried prescribing me hasn't.

They would be daft to take a sinister look at it I think, I was making appointments constantly before I got prescribed for depression and anxiety as I couldn’t get any relief and was on the drink all the time. Now I rarely bother them it’s saving them a ton of time and money which they need to use on other people more in need than me

πŸ‘€ must depend on first impressions of patient. I've shown positive results and been told it wasn't the cannabis. Granted this was before the private scripts but it doesn't just start working because you can get a script for it... hearing that makes me slightly more positive for the future now...

My GP kinda looked like a dog if you waved a credit card in its face. Just sort of confused.

Obviously he's been captured by ***THE DEVILS CABBAGE*** bullshit, but I've known him for years and he knows I'm not what he'd consider a drug addict. So he was somewhat curious about it.

I'm on EMC-1 (<1%THC 14%CBD) so his immediate assumption that I'm on it to get high, which considering I don't like getting stoned or drunk kinda blew that out the water. But all in all, it was a productive conversation.

So hopefully when/if he gets authorisation to prescribe it, I hope I'll be first on his list at be a guinea pig :).

I recently applied for a high level safety critical position, subject to drug testing at random. Thought I would be open and honest about MC, the specialist doctor they called in after I was bounced by an OH clinician for it ‘being above her pay grade’ was more worried about the opiate tablets I occasionally need and didn’t give a toss about the MC. My report now states ‘will fail drugs tests, but prescribed drugs’ and then some more blurb about ignoring the failures on the tests. Current employer asked if they ‘took the nasty stuff out of it’ 🀦‍♂️

Not gonna lie, I definitely was not expecting that to go down the way it did, that's a great outcome!

My wife's GP was aware of her BM cannabis use, and said that while they can't advocate it, they can appreciate that it helped her. Since her prescription, it just hasn't come up at all.

Out of curiosity what were your symptoms? I had near enough exact stroke symptoms recently and turns out I was getting hemiplegic migraines.
